FlyOver Canada · Canada Place, Vancouver
A flight ride in a dome theatre at Canada Place, a short walk from the seaplane dock: you hang in a motion seat in front of a huge curved screen while wind, mist and scents play along. It is not a plane, and it is the cheapest way to feel like you are flying over Canada.

FlyOver Canada sits inside Canada Place, the same building as the cruise ship terminal, a few minutes' walk from the seaplane terminal. You start with a short pre-show, then a briefing, then you are buckled into a motion seat in front of a dome screen. The film flies you over Canada's landscapes while the seats move and the room adds wind, mist and scents.
Nobody leaves the ground. That is the point of putting it on this site: it is the rainy-day fallback when the floatplanes are not flying, and the cheapest experience here at $22 on Viator. One guest put the pre-show at about 7 minutes and the ride itself at 15 to 20; the listing says 25 minutes in all. The films change: Flyover's own site currently lists Call of the Canadian Rockies and Awaken Canada, with HowlOver Canada coming soon.
The rules are on the listing. Riders must be at least 40 inches (102 cm) tall, and the ride is not recommended if you have back or heart problems, are pregnant, or get motion sick or are sensitive to flashing light. There are stairs inside, so tell staff on arrival if you use a wheelchair; the venue is wheelchair friendly with notice. It is the most reviewed product on this site, with 1,562 reviews and 4.4 stars.
Head to 201-999 Canada Place. The queue is partly open to the weather, so dress for it on weekends.
A short film about the people of Canada, as the listing describes it, before you move to the boarding zone. One guest timed it at about 7 minutes.
A safety talk, then you are buckled into your seat on the flight deck.
The motion seats move with the film on the dome screen, with wind and mist around you.
★★★★★We loved the show! It was fun to see so much and genuinely feel like you are flying over. Be aware that there is a 7 min show prior to entering that was inspiring too. Also, the flyover show is about 15-20 mins.
★★★★★This was the highlight of my Vancouver part of the tour. Very emotional see Canada as if you’re a bird. Impressive & entertaining!
★★★★★The visual experience of flying over Canada was amazing! Fun way to spend your time enjoying the sights.
